LÓPEZ: “THIS VICTORY ALSO GOES OUT TO THOSE AFFECTED BY THE CAMPANAR FIRE”
The Valencia CF attacker speaks to VCF Media
Valencia CF's Diego López reflected on the victory against Granada CF on LaLiga Matchday 26.
Victory
“We are very happy, very happy. Winning today was important and we achieved it. We hadn't won away for a while. It wasn't our best game, but we got the win, which was what mattered. We're very happy about the three points and for moving further towards seventh place.”
Scoring from a set piece
“It was one of the things we haven't been doing this season. It is important and gave us the three points away from home. We deserved it.”
A dedication
“I want to dedicate this victory to my father, as it is his birthday. What happened in Campanar was terrible for us, and this win also goes out to those affected and who lost their lives in the fire. What better way than to win this game, the match that was postponed when the fire occurred?”
The standings
"At the beginning of the season, nobody imagined that on Matchday 30 we would be seventh with 44 points and fighting for Europe. We have deserved it and we have worked hard. We don't have to obsess over that, because it's something we deserve and we don't have any kind of pressure, because the objective at the beginning of the season was different; now whatever comes is welcomed and if we don't get into Europe, I think all the fans would have to be very proud of the team anyway, because we are having an excellent year.”
Almeida
"He has been suffering with his injury and the whole team is a family, so we are happy for each other. It doesn't matter who plays. André especially contributes a lot for us in that midfield position, and that he was the protagonist with the goal. It is doubly pleasing."
The next match against CA Osasuna
“Today's victory helps us to face the game against CA Osasuna with more calm and also with more desire to achieve a win. We have to come out with an extra gear to what we did today, because the first half was not good. If we start out well and compete as we did in the second half, we can get another victory away from home.”
